As they’re looking to strengthen their midfield this summer, Valencia CF are eyeing a move for FC Girondins de Bordeaux’s Pedro Diaz (26), reports Foot Mercato. The Spanish midfielder is set to be released following the club’s bankruptcy and abandonment of their professional status.
Bordeaux’s exodus is set to start. With the Ligue 2 side having filed for bankruptcy and set to release all of their first team and academy members, some clubs are already targeting Les Girondins’ best players. While youngster’s Mathys Angély is targeted by Liverpool, the experienced members of the team are also gathering interest around Europe despite Bordeaux’s disappointing season.
Arriving from Sporting Gijon, his formative club, last year, Diaz was one of Bordeaux’s standout players last season, emerging as one of Ligue 2’s best midfielders. The 25-year-old central midfielder logged seven goals and four assists across 38 games while not missing a single match for Bordeaux. Foot Mercato reports that Diaz has already received two proposals from Ligue 1 sides. However, the former Siero-born player is giving his priority for a comeback to Spain, with Valencia CF eyeing a move for Bordeaux’s talented midfielder.
