Sky Germany reports that VfB Stuttgart and Augsburg are close to reaching an agreement for Bosnian striker Ermedin Demirovic.

Previously the price was an issue for Stuttgart as Demirovic was seen as too expensive, but seemingly that issue is close to being resolved. The deal could be finalised as early as this weekend.

Demirovic is the desired candidate for head coach Sebastian Hoeneß to likely replace Serhou Guirassy, while the Bosnian also wants to join VfB. Stuttgart are still also pushing to bring Deniz Undav back to the club permanently but recently has had their first bid of €23m for the 27-year-old rejected by his parent club Brighton.

Whether the Guirassy deal impacts this transfer is currently unknown. The 28-year-old’s move to Borussia Dortmund is currently on hold as an injury as revealed during his medical. Further tests, as well as a decision on the move, will be made next week.

Stuttgart are preparing for their return to Champions League football this season, but unlike Union Berlin for example, VfB have adopted a policy where they seem to be buying up several youth players and have not let the new Champions League money change their transfer market dealings.
