On transfer deadline day in the summer of 2024, the two clubs completed a straight swap of dry loan deals, so the former Chelsea striker went to San Siro with Alexis Saelemaekers heading to the Stadio Olimpico.

Both players are in the starting line-ups this evening for the Coppa Italia quarter-final, but the Englishman made the biggest impact by far.

First he hung in the air for an eternity to nod in the Theo Hernandez cross, then doubled the Rossoneri’s advantage just before half-time by springing the offside trap again set up by the France international.
