It was another dull and dire first half for Chelsea, this time in Warsaw where they really struggled to create much as they took on Legia.

But early in the second period they’ve looked brighter, and it didn’t take long for them to find the net. A loose ball dropped to captain Reece James on the edge of the box, with space around him.

James did exactly what you’d want in that position – he calmly chested the ball down, and instead of lashing it wildly trying to find the top corner, he just ensured he got it on target. The keeper got down to stop it, but could only spill it to Tyrique George.

The youngster was pretty much the only player in Blue with any spark in the first period, so it was no surprise that he was active and on his toes as the ball dropped, giving him the jump on the defender.

He was able to finish easily to notch his first senior goal.

A great moment for him and the team.

We’re sure Tyrique has many more spectacular goals to come in his career, but this was an important one for sure. He was without doubt our brightest light in the first half, and as he has done in quite a few Conference League games this season showed he wasn’t afraid to take on opposition players.

Credit to Enzo Maresca for trusting him again, and credit to those in the academy who have produced another gem it seems. We hope George gets another start in the semi finals at least.
