With the second half only just having got underway, Chelsea now lead 2-0 against Morecambe.
Christopher Nkunku struck home a loose ball that was bouncing in the box to give his team a much more comfortable lead. Tyrique George has been a menace all day, and it was his linkup with Marc Cucurella down the left which made space for his team in the box.
The ball fell for Renato Veiga, who lashed the ball at the goal, and the rebound for the save came out to Nkunku. The Frenchman earlier missed a penalty, so he will be glad to have struck home this nice finish.

This was Nkunku’s 13th goal of the season, making him the club’s joint top scorer with Cole Palmer. By those numbers, one would think he’s having a great season and that the club are finally getting what they paid for him. But the reality is that apart from one, those goals have all come in games like this, playing against weak opposition in a rotated team.
The lack of celebration from the Frenchman isn’t just a sign of respect to the opposition, it’s a clear sign that he’s not happy about his situation, regardless of the goals. We don’t really blame him – he’s too good to be used like this. And he’s behaving well, staying patient and not making a fuss – at least not publicly.
But nobody should be surprised if he pushes for a move in the summer, unless something dramatic changes between now and then.
