Santiago Gimenez and Joao Felix were introduced for their Milan debuts during this evening’s Coppa Italia quarter-final against Roma, immediately combining to score a fantastic goal.

The pair both arrived on transfer deadline day, the centre-forward on a permanent move from Feyenoord worth over €35m including add-ons and the trequartista from Chelsea on a dry loan.

They were immediately put into the squad for tonight’s Coppa Italia quarter-final and it was for more than just experiencing the atmosphere at San Siro.

Coach Sergio Conceicao wasted no time, putting them both on for their debut just shy of the hour mark with his team leading 2-1 through an Abraham brace.

Within 14 minutes of their introduction, the pair combined to score a goal, the Gimenez through ball allowing Joao Felix to spring the offside trap and beat Mile Svilar with a delicate lob into the empty net.

When Abraham made way for Gimenez, SportMediaset noted that he seemed hurt by the jeers aimed at him by his former supporters in the stands.

As he walked off the field, the striker – who is only on loan from Roma and expected to return to the Stadio Olimpico at the end of the season – made the gesture of lifting a cup towards the section of fans.

This was a reference to the fact he was part of the squad that allowed them to win the Conference League trophy, their first and so far only UEFA piece of silverware.
