James and Cucurella combine for massive Blues goal

Marc Cucurella scores for Chelsea against Man U.

Reece James’ selection was a big talking point tonight, and the captain has just delivered in the biggest way possible. Picking up the ball in the right channel on the edge of the Man U box, he dropped a pirouette to send Alejandro Garnacho flying, then picked out a perfect cross to the far post where he had Blues steaming in.

Credit to Marc Cucurella – he’s always been the man we can go to for a crucial goal this season, and he stepped up here again. He timed his run perfectly and planted the ball into the back of the net with his head. The Bridge went wild for it, as you can imagine.

You can see the goal in the clip embedded here:

Chelsea dig deep for huge 3 points

Aston Villa’s win at Tottenham means it’s not over yet, but Enzo Maresca’s team have put themselves in a position to make the Champions League places with a win over Nottingham Forest on the final day, which is what they always will have wanted.

It was an ugly game, and they didn’t create much, but they certainly made the most of their chances, and the effort and the press in the second half was just what the doctor ordered. When it came down to it, they wanted it and needed it more than Man U.

Now we move onto the City Ground – potentially an even bigger game and an even more fearsome opposition than Newcastle were a week ago. Bring it on1
