Mateo Retegui and David Raya both described what happened with that extraordinary double penalty save as Atalanta were held to a 0-0 Champions League draw by Arsenal.
The best chance of the game arrived at the dawn of the second half, when Ederson was brought down by Thomas Partey for a spot-kick.
Retegui stepped up, saw the penalty parried by Raya, who then incredibly also managed to claw the rebound header off the line.

“It was just a penalty and I was lucky to go the right way,” Raya told TNT Sports.
“I was unlucky that the rebound went straight to him, but I was quick enough to get up and save it. It is fantastic to be able to keep the clean sheet and to help the team to get at least a point.”

Retegui was distraught above all with the rebound header, as he nodded it back towards the centre, where Raya was able to reach.
Fabio Capello in the Sky Sport Italia studio asked if the striker had thought the ball was going in and was already celebrating.
“I didn’t see that the goalkeeper had got back up, I saw him too late,” assured the Italy international.
“It was a great save on the penalty, but I got it wrong on the rebound. I didn’t see how quickly he had got back up. I was so focused on getting clean contact with the ball, I didn’t see the goalkeeper. I feel terrible, it would’ve been important to start with a victory.
“I am so sorry for the lads, we had a great game and I made a mistake, but we learn from our mistakes. After the penalty, the whole team came over to reassure me, so did the coach when I was substituted. We really wanted to give the fans three points.”
