(Video): Romano and Maresca put player’s future in doubt – he blames a goalkeeper

Jadon Sancho scored a great goal for Chelsea today to 2-2, and speaking to the club’s TV channel after the game he noted how disappointed he was to not have seen his effort worth 3 points.
“No, it’s not good enough. Conceding two goals early on, obviously going into the game we knew that Ipswich were very good on the counters,” the winger said.
“The amount of chances we had, I thought at least four of them should gave gone in. But hats off to the keeper for those amazing saves. In the next 6 games it’s going to be a fight.”
It certainly is. Teams around us won, and Fulham or Bournemouth can make more ground tonight. Dropping 4 points in two games against Brentford and Ipswich really stings. It also doesn’t bode well for the harder games to come. Newcastle will eat us alive next month if both teams play like they did yesterday.

For Sancho personally this was a big moment. He’s been under pressure for a lack of goals (and even a lack of shots, and was out of the team at the start of tonight’s game for precisely that reason, we would imagine.
It will be interesting to see if Enzo Maresca decides to flip back to Sancho after this latest effort, or if Pedro Neto remains his man on the left next week. For the first time it feels like he may be playing for his future, with nobody yet confirming that Chelsea are going to make his loan a permanent deal, including Fabrizio Romano h and his manager, who was asked about it post game.
