Roma are locked in talks for the signing of Alexander Sorloth from Villareal.

The Norwegian striker is in pole position to replace Romelu Lukaku at the capital club.

According to the latest report by Corriere dello Sport, the Giallorossi formulated a 20 million euros bid for Sorloth over the last few hours.

The bid was turned down by Villareal who deem this figure unsatisfactory given their demands for the player who scored 26 goals and 6 assists last season.

Sorloth is a player that intrigues Roma director Florent Ghisolfi and one that Daniele De Rossi finds compatible with his desired system.

After the exits of Lukaku, Azmoun and Belotti, Roma want to add a new striker to De Rossi’s disposal, especially given the imminent start to the team’s preseason training camp.

Negotiations are on-going, although the newspaper speculates that for an agreement to be reached, Roma will need to bridge the gap and meet Villareal halfway in their demands by submitting an offer closer to 30 million euros.
