Vinicius Jr.’s recent form has sparked growing concerns, especially after his dismal performance against Arsenal.

If we look at the data, Vinicius touched the ball 38 times but suffered 18 turnovers, unable to complete a single shot on goal, key pass, or dribble.

This performance was one of his worst in a Madrid shirt, a stark contrast to the dynamic player who has been a key figure for the club in recent seasons.

Vinicius, known for his flair, speed, and creativity, has struggled to find his rhythm in 2025. The Brazilian’s once-impregnable confidence seems to have faded, and his performances have not lived up to the high expectations placed upon him.

Numbers are disappointing

The numbers, in that case, speak volumes. In the first four months of this year, Vinicius has scored only six goals and provided five assists, totaling 11 goal contributions in 23 matches.

This is a far cry from his impressive tally of 35 goal contributions (24 goals and 11 assists) last season, which was instrumental in helping Real Madrid lift their 15th Champions League title.

There is a noticeable dip in both his focus and form. The player who once thrived under pressure now seems to be grappling with confidence issues.

His missed penalties against Atletico Madrid and Valencia only further highlight his struggles.

Ballon d’Or moment the breaking point?

Since the fateful Ballon d’Or ceremony, Vinicius’ performances have not been the same. Before the event, his goal/assist ratio stood at an impressive 0.87 per game, but post-Ballon d’Or, it has dropped to 0.66.

While this may seem like a minor dip, in the context of a club like Real Madrid, it is a concerning trend.

Vinicius’ tendency to look for individual solutions in tough times, as opposed to relying on the collective strength of the team, has also been noted.

His attitude has shifted since the Ballon d’Or disappointment, and many of his supporters are starting to voice their displeasure with his perceived lack of focus and commitment.
