Liverpool continued their excellent momentum in the Premier League on Saturday as they outclassed Bournemouth 2-0 at the Vitality Stadium.

The latest win means the Reds have now moved nine points clear at the top of the league standings.

Liverpool’s 100 percent winning record in the Champions League came to an end in midweek, with PSV Eindhoven overcoming the English giants 3-2 at the Philips Stadion.

However, Arne Slot’s men quickly returned to winning ways as they beat an in-form Bournemouth side that had already registered wins over Arsenal, Manchester City and Nottingham Forest this season.

There were many encouraging displays from Liverpool, but Mohamed Salah was their standout performer.

The Egyptian opened the scoring with a superb 30th-minute penalty, awarded after Lewis Cook clipped the heels of Cody Gakpo.

Salah wrapped up victory with a brilliant curled effort in the 75th minute after the Cherries missed several good scoring opportunities.

Captain Virgil van Dijk was left hugely impressed with the forward’s display, calling him “phenomenal” and “outstanding” in his post-match interview.

He told BBC Match of the Day: “Let’s make it more, let’s keep going. He has obviously been amazing for the football club over all those years. I see the hard work he puts in, but the numbers speak for themselves.

“It’s an outstanding performance, but he is a phenomenal player.”

Salah’s future at Anfield has been a source of speculation, with the 32-year-old yet to agree a new deal despite his contract expiring in June.

However, the uncertainty is certainly not affecting his performances on the pitch.

Besides two brilliant goals, Salah also posted excellent statistics against Bournemouth on Saturday.

He had 57 touches and completed 34 of his 42 passes. The talented winger lost possession on 12 occasions, but he had three shots on target and completed 100% of his crosses.
