Former Arsenal and Barcelona defender Thomas Vermaelen is not happy with Belgium's travel schedule for their Euro 2020 group games.

The centre-half, who currently plays for Vissel Kobe in Japan at club level, is still appearing for his nation at the age of 35.

The Red Devils played a game in Copenhagen and two matches in St. Petersburg to round off the group stages.

Several nations, such as England, Italy, Germany and Spain, got to play three out of three group stage matches at their home stadiums.

"Unfortunately you have teams who play all their group games in their own country, so I think it's not completely fair," said former Arsenal defender Vermaelen, per the Daily Mail.

"Travelling doesn't have a good influence on your body. We had to come back from Russia which is a three-hour flight after a late game, so it's not helping us.

"But it's something we have to accept and deal with. We won't moan as a team or as players. It's something that belongs to this tournament."
