Vitor Roque speaks for the first time since departing Barcelona for Palmeiras | OneFootball

Now-former Barcelona star Vitor Roque has on Friday spoken publicly for the first time as a new Palmeiras player.

This comes after his return to Brazil was this evening made official.

Frontman Roque has of course dominated the headlines across Spain over the course of the last week.

This comes after word was forthcoming that the aforementioned Palmeiras had entered into negotiations with Barcelona over bringing the youngster in with immediate effect.

With the latter having been eager to offload their out-of-favour striker as soon as possible, talks, in turn, quickly intensified between the parties.

After Real Betis gave their blessing to Roque’s loan stint with the club being brought to an end prematurely, Barca, in turn, made official the Brazilian’s departure on a permanent basis on Friday evening.

And as alluded to above, Roque has himself since spoken out for the first time since his newest club was confirmed.

In quotes relaid by Mundo Deportivo, the young goalscorer explained:

“I am very proud to be part of the Palmeiras Family. They were tense days, full of anxiety for me and my family, but fortunately everything turned out well in the end.

“It’s an honour to wear the shirt of Brazil’s greatest champion.

“Since the news about the possibility of my transfer to Palmeiras began to emerge, I have received several messages from Palmeiras fans, and that affection has made all the difference. I can’t wait to join my teammates and be on the pitch to help Palmeiras.”
