The Barcelona players returned to training on Sunday following the previous night’s postponement of their match against Osasuna due to the passing of first-team doctor, Dr Carles Minarro.

The member of the Blaugrana medical staff passed away sometime last evening at the team hotel, before the game against Osasuna, which eventually ended up getting suspended.

Before beginning the session, the team paid an emotional tribute to their late doctor. All players and coaching staff gathered at the centre of the Tito Vilanova pitch at the club’s training complex, where they observed a minute of silence in memory of Dr Minarro.

Since the tragic news broke, numerous tributes have poured in. Players, fellow La Liga clubs, including rivals Real Madrid and Espanyol, friends, and family members have all expressed their sorrow over this sudden loss.

The squad is believed to have been left devastated by the shock passing of Dr Minarro and honoured his memory with a minute of silence before training today.

Barcelona will now shift their focus on preparing for Tuesday’s crucial UEFA Champions League clash against Benfica, where they will aim to secure qualification for the quarterfinals.

Barcelona hold an advantage going into the match, having won the first leg 1-0 in Lisbon despite playing most of the game with ten men.

The squad will have one final training session on Monday before the decisive fixture at Montjuic on Tuesday evening.
