Spain and Barcelona starlet Lamine Yamal was handing out lessons on Tuesday night, with Adrien Rabiot taking the brunt of it. The 16-year-old was on the verge of making a much bigger splash after the game though.

Rabiot said before Spain’s victory over France that they would try to ensure Lamine Yamal ‘has to do more things than he has so far’ to reach the Euro 2024 final, and the teenage sensation responded with an Instagram post related to chess. Following the game, he shouted into the camera ‘Speak now, speak’, and posted ‘checkmate’ on his Instagram.

He had planned to direct some of his trolling at new Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe too, and can be seen carrying Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle mask, frequently related to the French star, into his press conference. However Spain’s press officer quickly averted an image that would have quickly spread around the globe. He probably saved any cordiality between Lamine Yamal, Mbappe and much of the French public too.
