Away with the Moroccan national team during the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Amine Harit (26) hasn’t featured for Olympique de Marseille since December. He was clearly looking to make up for lost time as he attempted to score directly from kick-off during Sunday’s Choc des Olympiques at the Groupama Stadium.

Harit looked to catch Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes off guard, taking a shot directly from kick-off in the first half. However, the Morocco international’s spectacular and audacious effort ricocheted off the crossbar thanks to a faint glove from Lopes, and luckily for Lyon, the ball bounced to safety.

Hairt’s effort was not a sign of things to come for Marseille, who were outplayed by their opponents. Alexandre Lacazette got the only goal of the game to secure a 1-0 victory for Les Gones, which further eased their relegation concerns. OM meanwhile, are yet to win in 2024.
