A player appears to bite Liverpool loan star Owen Beck, moments after he was shown a straight red card for lashing out in a game. You can catch the footage here.
Liverpool sent Owen Beck to Blackburn Rovers this season and the left-back has been thriving. His initial efforts this season earned rave reviews from Rovers fans, with several begging the Reds to let him stay permanently.
It's not just for his efforts going forward, either. Beck made a 'brilliant', 'goal-saving' tackle last week that earned plaudits.
But we've got other mention the creativity, with Beck frequently providing the goods going forward for his loan side. However, things took a turn on Sunday.
Blackburn played Preston Norther End away from home in the Championship, with Beck starting at left-back. In all, he put in a decent game - no chances created, but three interceptions and a tackle.
Then came the 89th minute. Things got scrappy on Beck's flank and a free-kick was given. Duane Holmes burst forward with the ball after the whistle and the left-back reacted by swiping an aggressive leg out at the Preston man.
You can catch the footage (with replays) below:
The truly shocking here thing, however, is that moments after that kick from Beck, he appears to receive a bite from Preston's Milutin Osmajić. Beck makes it completely clear to the referees what happened - including showing off the bite mark - but the Preston man is merely booked.
It's an insane turn of events. Beck rightly gets the red but then immediately turns into the victim after a bizarre reaction.
Albeit a reaction that Liverpool fans know well (Luis Suarez has conditioned us all to that).
This one has a ways to run, then, and it certainly won't be the last you hear of it. Madness.
