Footage of Real Madrid youngster Joan Martínez facing off against the club’s star attacker during a training session has today come to the fore online.

The name of defender Joan has of course positioned itself front and centre in the Spanish media headlines over the course of recent days.

As much comes after the Spaniard, at just 16 years of age, was afforded a last-minute call-up for Real Madrid’s pre-season tour of the USA.

Joan, in turn, was afforded his first chance to impress on the pitch, after being introduced off the bench in Los Blancos’ friendly meeting with AC Milan on Thursday.

And it did not take long for the stopper to showcase exactly why he is held in such high regard back at Valdebebas.

Just 24 hours on, those of a Real persuasion will in turn no doubt be interested to hear of Joan, once again, being thrown in at the deep end by Carlo Ancelotti and co.

As much came by way of a daunting training ground task, in keeping tabs on Vinícius Jr.

Wide-man Vinícius marked his return to base with the Spanish champions earlier today, ahead of this weekend’s friendly meeting with arch rivals Real Madrid.

And, as part of a match between ranks, the Ballon d’Or favourite was faced up by Joan, with footage of just some of the exchanges between the pair showcased below:
