Emre Can is confident that Borussia Dortmund have what it takes to compete against Bayern Munich ahead of this weekend's Der Klassiker in the Bundesliga.

Borussia Dortmund will be in Bundesliga action against leaders Bayern Munich in a mouth-watering contest at the Westfalenstadion this weekend. While Bayern have been the team to beat in the Bundesliga this season, the Black and Yellows have a perfect home record and will fancy their chances of making it back to back Der Klassiker wins.

Ahead of the game, Emre Can has thrown down the gauntlet to Bayern Munich. The midfielder believes that Borussia Dortmund's excellent home form should hold them in good stead against Vincent Kompany's side on Saturday evening.

“You can make a statement in that game. Bayern are doing great so far. But we're a force at home and have self-confidence. We can go into the game feeling confident and we don't have to hide. We will fight for victory," Can said via Ruhr Nachrichten.

Can will miss this weekend's Der Klassiker through suspension, having received a straight red card during the defeat to Mainz 05 before the international break. But before the Bayern game, he will hope to make his return to the starting XI on Wednesday when Borussia Dortmund go up against Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League.

Having lost their last six matches away from home, Borussia Dortmund will be determined to end that run in Zagreb. Then, they can turn their attentions to Der Klassiker where they will hope to make a statement at the expense of a side that has had the measure of them time and again over the years.
