Head Coach Julen Lopetegui is desperately seeking some positivity following the latest heavy defeat.

West Ham fell to an embarrassing 5-0 home loss to Liverpool yesterday, with again a demonstration at the lack of progress this team is making under the Spaniard.

Lopetegui has again provided a response that provides more questions than answers when speaking to the press, as he tried to lean on a recent upturn in form ahead of the loss to the league leaders.

The reality though which many are more than aware of is the performances, aside from the results, which have been dire with West Ham fortunate to get the points we have in recent matches – so his statement is certainly not going to wash with many.

“We have to be honest with ourselves and say that we have to learn many things to be closer in these kinds of matches with these kinds of opponents,” said the beleaguered boss after the Liverpool defeat, as reported by the club’s Official Website.

“I repeat, despite the fact we did well in the last month, today is a bad day for us. It is not an excuse to say that we lost against Liverpool because they are the leaders. I think that it’s one match of football when we played in front of our fans and for sure we can and we have to give them another face.”
