West Ham United could use a reliable striker to lead the line. The Hammers have been notoriously blunt in front of goal. Stalwart Michail Antonio was already underperforming before an accident ruled him out for months.

Meanwhile, summer signing Niclas Fullkrug has struggled to settle into life in East London, battling persistent issues that have sidelined him. The Hammers took Brighton & Hove Albion star Evan Ferguson on loan, but he has yet to get off the mark at the London Stadium.

One of the transfer priorities this summer for West Ham has to be signing a new striker. The Irons have been linked to a few exciting names like Jonathan David and Yuri Alberto, but the club has seemingly not decided on their next centre-forward.

Alberto’s agent has acknowledged that West Ham are interested in his client and that they had offers from the Hammers.

“Our job is to take the proposal to the club,” he said (via Ge Globo). “We have already had offers from Wolverhampton, West Ham, from Betis, from Spain, from Italy.

“But the player is young. Every player who is in South America thinks of playing in Europe, and with Yuri, it is no different. If there is a good opportunity that is good for him and the club, we will talk.”

Alberto can add firepower to this West Ham side. The Corinthians man has been a consistent goalscorer, netting 31 goals and seven assists in 57 appearances last term. He has registered seven goals in 17 outings this term.

The ideal scenario for West Ham fans would be to sign Alberto and still bring in David on a free transfer, giving the club multiple options up top.

With Antonio’s future uncertain and Fullkrug yet to impress, the summer transfer window represents a pivotal moment for the club.

If West Ham can land the right reinforcements, they could finally solve their long-standing striker dilemma and push for a European place after a disappointing 2024/25 campaign.
