Barcelona youngster Pablo Torre has on Wednesday provided an insight into his current situation at the club.

Midfielder Torre has for his part endured something of a hit-and-miss opening to the campaign to date.

When afforded the opportunity to impress, the 21-year-old has largely done so, to the tune of three goals and an assist in La Liga.

As much, though, has come across just five appearances, as Torre struggles to beat out the fierce competition for places in Hansi Flick’s midfield ranks.

Speaking during an interview with Relevo (as cited by Diario Sport) this week, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of his place in Barcelona’s squad, and future with the club, was put to the Spaniard himself.

And, in his response, Torre both reiterated his hopes of succeeding in Catalunya’s capital, and left the door open to a potential winter transfer:

“I trust myself a lot. During the season there are moments for everyone because, unfortunately, injuries occur. I wanted to try to take advantage of all those moments. So far I’ve been able to do it, but there’s a lot of healthy competition. I want to play and I go home frustrated when I don’t, but it is what it is. The team is very good and we’re all switched on, which is the important thing for the coach.

“There is still a month and a half left (until the January window) in which I must be focused on Barcelona. After that, we’ll see what happens…

“I’ve always trusted (in myself). Otherwise… I would have left by now. I know what I can do if I have confidence.”
