West Brom and Nottingham Forest are both interested in making a potential move for Genk defender Milad Mohammadi this summer, according to Football Insider.

It is believed that the left-back has been informed by Genk that he can leave the club this summer as they aim to reduce their wage bill.

That has seen him come onto the transfer radar of a host of clubs in European football as the race for his signature starts to heat up.

Football Insider report that Mohammadi has already turned down the chance to move to both AEK Athens and Ferencvaros during the transfer window as he aims to find the best move for his long-term future.

Both West Brom and Nottingham Forest are thought to see the 27-year-old as an ideal potential signing to make this summer to bolster the quality they have in the wing-back and full-back positions respectively.

However, Football Insider report that Premier League side Watford are also in the race to secure the defender’s signature with them viewing him as a low-cost addition experienced option to add to their squad.

The verdict

Mohammadi looks to be a player that is certainly worth a real look at for both West Brom and Nottingham Forest. The defender has a lot of experience and is someone that has even performed well in the UEFA Europa League during his time with Genk.

Therefore, to bring someone in with that level of experience to the Championship would be a brilliant move especially considering he is likely to be available on the cheap given Genk want him off their wage bill.

Nottingham Forest are in need of a new left-back that can fully establish himself as their first-choice in that position having tried multiple players in that position in recent years. Mohammadi seems to fit the bill as an ideal player to come in and sure up that side of their defence for the next few years.

West Brom would view the defender as more of a wing-back option you would imagine and you could see him being able to learn to fit the system that Valaerien Ismael wants to deploy very quickly given his experience.
