West Brom will look to offload striker Kenneth Zohore during the January transfer window, a report from Football Insider has claimed.
Zohore joined the Baggies from Cardiff back in the summer of 2019, for a fee reported to be in the region of £8million.
Since then however, Zohore has struggled to make an impact at The Hawthorns. The 27-year-old scored five times in 20 games during his debut campaign with West Brom, before being loaned out to Millwall last season.
Having scored just three times in 19 games for Millwall, Zohore has now made just three appearances for West Brom this season.
Now it seems as though that has led the Baggies to make a significant decision over the striker’s future at The Hawthorns.
According to this latest update, West Brom have decided that they will try to sell Zohore in the January transfer window, as he does not feature in manager Valerien Ismael’s plans.
It is thought that the Baggies are keen to offload Zohore at the turn of the year in order to create space in the squad and wage budget, to make room for new recruits.
As things stand, there are 18 months remaining on his contract with West Brom, securing his future at the club until the end of the 2022/23 season.
The Verdict
This does seem to be the right decision for West Brom to make over Zohore’s future.
The 27-year-old has never really managed to make an impact for the Baggies, and it is hard to see him forcing his way into Ismael’s side, given the options that are ahead of him in the pecking order.
As a result, selling the striker could bring in some useful funds for West Brom to strengthen their squad in the promotion battle, while also giving Zohore the chance to kick start his career elsewhere.
However, given he has struggled to make an impact at West Brom, and considering the price they paid for him, you feel it will be hard for the Baggies to get a return on their investment here.
