West Brom prospect Ollie Bostock is being linked with a loan move before the end of the window after scoring a sensational goal for Albion’s U18 team.
West Brom youth talent Ollie Bostock is being linked with a loan move away from The Hawthorns after scoring a sublime solo goal for their U18 side.
According to the Daily Mail, Bostock’s wonderful solo effort against Norwich City in the FA Youth Cup was heavily watched by scouts, and the midfielder has caught the eye of some as the transfer window ticks down.
Bostock has been on the fringes of featuring in the first team setup at Albion, appearing on the substitutes' bench several times, but he is yet to make his debut.
Controlling shareholder Shilen Patel is keen to use Albion’s academy pathway to help graduates make a name for themselves with their boyhood teams, which in turn benefits the club by possessing some star-studded talent.
With the Baggies appointing Tony Mowbray as Carlos Corberan’s successor, there is promise the 61-year-old will give youth a chance during his time at the club, most notably allowing Amad Diallo and Jack Clarke to showcase their talent during his time at Sunderland.
With praise being lauded on to Bostock, he could be in the frame to gain some senior experience, with West Brom braced to receive loan bids before the 3rd February deadline.
Playing in the FA Youth Cup last night at Norwich City, Ollie Bostock stunned the East Anglian crowd by producing a moment of brilliance.
The 17-year-old won the ball from his own half at Carrow Road - ran the full length of the pitch while beating two Canaries players and arrowed a shot into the far corner with his left foot, which sealed a 4-2 victory and booked the Baggies' place in the quarter-finals.
As per the Daily Mail, the feeling among the scouts that were watching is that Bostock, who won West Brom’s 2023/24 academy Player of the Year, is ready to be tested at the professional level.
It is believed West Brom will ensure that Bostock’s eventual destination is with a team that suits his playing style, with the Welsh youth international able to play across all attacking positions.
The London-born sensation is currently under contract in the Black Country until the end of next season, and Albion are expected to be approached by a host of clubs who are searching for a late deal.
When Ollie Bostock eventually makes his first steps into senior football, he could force his way into the Albion first team setup as early as next season if he continues to produce such magical moments.
As previously mentioned, Tony Mowbray has an immense track record at integrating youth into his teams, so Bostock should be very optimistic about making himself a fan favourite in B71.
Bostock would increase his chances of playing in the blue and white stripes regularly if Albion remain in the Championship next season, with the second tier a stage for young talent to highlight their raw ability.
