West Ham United are likely to suffer a double transfer blow in the January transfer window after fresh developments today.
The Hammers have been heavily linked with a move for Olympique Marseille striker Elye Wahi this month.
The 22-year-old has struggled to cement his position in the side at the French club, and as per L’Equipe, the Hammers have been looking to take advantage of his situation.
German side Eintracht Frankfurt were also in the race for him. Fabrizio Romano has claimed on X today that the Bundesliga club have increased the bid to sign Wahi, and they are on the verge of signing him.
The transfer expert has said that the player has already said ‘yes’ over his move to the German club, and the deal is likely to go through.
The Hammers will miss Michail Antonio for the rest of the season as he steps up his recovery after a horrific car accident.
Likewise, Niclas Fullkrug has endured a torrid time in East London and has barely featured for West Ham. Graham Potter wants to sign a new striker, but it appears they will miss out on Wahi.
West Ham are also set to miss out on in-demand non-league star Brayden Johnson.
According to a report from the Northern Echo, Middlesbrough are set to sign the 18-year-old midfielder, who is also being chased by West Ham.
Boro have won the battle for the all-action midfielder who plays for Eastbourne Borough in the National League South.
While missing out on a raw young talent will not hurt West Ham, they will sure feel bad about missing out on Wahi.
