West Ham United have been linked with several strikers in their relentless quest to bolster their attacking option this month.

One of their primary targets is Olympique Marseille’s talented centre-forward, Elye Wahi.

The Hammers are long-term admirers of the French striker and have tried to lure him to the London Stadium on several occasions.

So far, they’ve failed with every attempt and are about to be dealt another massive blow in their bid to sign the former Montpellier marksman.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Eintracht Frankfurt are nearing a move for Wahi, who has given the Bundesliga club the green light to get a deal over the line.

Frankfurt have already seen one bid turned down but have refused to throw in the towel in the race to secure Wahi’s signature.

The German outfit are now offering in excess of €25 million (£21m), and are locked in talks with Marseille to negotiate the fine details.

Despite Wahi’s repeated links to West Ham, the Hammers are yet to submit a formal offer for his signature.

Unless they engineer a late hijack, the former RC Lens striker could be on his way to Frankfurt in the coming days.

Wahi isn’t the first striker West Ham are missing out on this month.

They recently saw a club record £57m bid for Jhon Duran turned down by Aston Villa, who made it clear that the Colombian striker isn’t for sale.

Missing out on two key targets in the space of a week isn’t a good look for the Hammers. They’re running out of time to bolster their squad and need to sign a striker in the coming days.

With Duran and Wahi out of the picture, West Ham should prioritise a move for Fulham’s Rodrigo Muniz. He has all the tools and Premier League experience to thrive at the London Stadium.

An initial loan deal will help West Ham sort out their attacking woes and give the club enough time to assess their options ahead of the summer window.
