West Ham United have suffered another major injury setback this season in attack. With Michail Antonio and Niclas Fullkrug already missing a large chunk of the season through injury, the Hammers have been dealt another blow.

Manager Graham Potter announced in his press conference today that attacker Crysencio Symmerville suffered a setback in his recovery and won’t be back until after the international break (March 17-25).

Summerville, who earns £30,000 weekly (Capology), has struggled to hit the ground running at the London Stadium since arriving from Leeds United over the summer. The Hammers forward is expected to be out until at least April.

West Ham have been ravaged by injuries this season. Fellow summer signing Jean-Clair Todibo was absent for a few games due to an ankle injury. Per Potter, Todibo is progressing with his recovery.

January signing Evan Ferguson is yet to make his long-awaited debut after joining on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion.

Meanwhile, holding midfielder Edson Alvarez picked up a late injury in the build-up to West Ham’s 2-1 loss to Chelsea. He is being assessed by the medical team. The former Ajax man could be in the squad for the home clash with Brentford.

Attacking midfielder Lucas Paqueta is also a doubt for the game, although there is a chance he might play amid new startling revelations in his betting scandal case.

The Hammers have had 12 days of rest and time to learn more of the rudiments of Potter’s football. West Ham must deliver this Saturday when they take on Brentford at home as they bid to climb up the table.

The Irons are currently stuck in 16th place, far away from European slots, which was their aim at the beginning of the season. West Ham need a turnaround in fortunes in the coming games.
