West Ham defender Thilo Kehrer has completed a permanent move to Monaco after the French club activated an option in his loan deal.

Kehrer joined Monaco in January having failed to make a Premier League start across the first half of the season but has gone on to become a key player for the Ligue 1 outfit.

The German international has made 14 league starts since the switch and Monaco have finished the season in superb form to secure a second-placed finish behind Paris Saint-Germain and assure Champions League qualification for next season.

Monaco have now taken up their option-to-buy in a deal believed to be worth around £9.5million, with Kehrer signing a four-year contract.

Kehrer arrived at West Ham in the summer of 2022 as part of a significant overhaul of David Moyes’s squad and his versatility proved a key asset across his first season in English football.

The former PSG man made 38 appearances across competitions, including eight on the Hammers’s run to Europa Conference League glory.

This season, however, Vladimir Coufal’s return to form and the summer arrival of Konstantinos Mavropanos saw the 27-year-old slip down the pecking order at both right-back and centre-half.
