However, it is not going to be easy for the hammers given that they will face a sheer amount of competition from the likes of Barcelona for his services.

David has been an integral part of the Lille team for quite some time and has been scoring goals consistently for fun. Even in this season, he has been performing very well. David has scored 13 goals in 22 matches so far in the Ligue 1 2024/2025 season. Overall, David’s goals scored per 90 minutes is 0.67. Moreover, his total G/A (goals + assists) is 16 for this season. His goal involvement equates to 0.82 per 90 minutes. His non-penalty xG per 90 minutes is 0.33.

Looking into his passing aspect of the game, David passes the ball roughly 23.22 times during a game with a pass completion rate of 81.92%. He also plays 1.17 key passes each game. Overall, David’s xA (expected assists) output is 0.21 per 90 minutes. So, he has good stats in this ongoing season and has made him a focal point in the transfer market.

Lille wanted to tie him to a new contract given that he has been so important for them. However, David wants to try a new challenge, and definitely playing in the Premier League will be an attraction for him. Niclas Fullkrug has not been in his best form for West Ham, and Evan Ferguson will make his way back to Brighton & Hove Albion after the season ends. So, Graham Potter wants his club to sign David on a Bosman move.
