West Ham United are unlikely to make a move to sign Vitoria Guimaraes winger Jota Silva after landing Luis Guilherme from Palmeiras, according to a report from The Athletic.

As expected, the Hammers have been busy this summer, with three new players already linking up with Julen Lopetegui’s squad.

Guilherme was the first signing of the Lopetegui era. He has been joined by goalkeeper Wes Foderingham, who signed on a free transfer after leaving relegated Sheffield United last month.

Max Kilman was our third signing of the summer transfer window. The Englishman joined in a £40 million deal from Premier League rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Lopetegui was eager to revamp the defence, and Kilman was a priority target for the Spanish tactician. Despite the flurry of activities, we’re not done in the transfer market.

Technical director Tim Steidten is keen to address every area of the squad this summer to bolster our quest to secure European qualification heading into the 2024/25 season.

A striker is now a priority for West Ham

Guilherme is predominantly a right winger, but the exciting Brazilian talent can play multiple attacking roles.

Considering Jota also operates primarily from the right, it’s understandable why we’ve cooled our interest in the Portuguese winger.

Steidten is now prioritising a striker, and several names have been linked with a move to the London Stadium, including Sevilla’s Youssef En-Nesyri, Newcastle United’s Callum Wilson, and Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran.

RC Lens prodigy Elye Wahi is the latest name on our extensive shortlist. However, pulling off a deal for the French striker may be difficult, given that he only joined Lens last summer.

Wahi scored 12 goals and provided four assists in 37 appearances across all competitions in his debut campaign with the Ligue 1 side.

His proven goal-scoring track record underscores why we’re interested in the Frenchman. He scored 19 goals for Montpellier the previous season.
