Westerlo have announced the signing of Serhiy Sydorchuk from Dynamo Kyiv. The defensive midfielder has signed a three-year contract with the side and becomes their 11th signing of the summer. Westerlo are currently second bottom, with no wins from their opening six games. They have one point from an opening day draw to Eupen, with seven goals scored and 13 conceded.
New signing Sydorchuk ends a decade long spell with the club from Ukraine’s capital. Overall, he made an incredible 327 appearances for the side, scoring 21 goals. The midfielder joined the side back in 2013 from FC Metalurh Zaporizhya, where he had played 70 times and scored five goals.
Sydorchuk brings a wealth of international experience to the Westerlo midfield. He has been capped 56 times for the national team, scoring three goals. He has made seven appearances at the European championships, two in 2016 and five in 2020. The 32-year-old midfielder also has experience of playing European club football with Dynamo Kyiv, having played in the Champions League and Europa League on many occasions.
