When is the next Copa America tournament?

The next Copa America is not until 2028. The tournament is on the same schedule as the Euros, meaning both competitions will occur during the same summer every four years.

Historically, though, the Copa America has had an inconsistent schedule; sometimes it was held in back-to-back years, like in 2015 and 2016, and other times, there was a four-year gap between tournaments. Even the Copa America 2020 was pushed back to 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fortunately, the competition's schedule in the future is a lot easier to predict, and in four years, the 49th edition of the tournament will kick off to crown the new Copa America champions.

As of now, the competition does not have a confirmed host, but it is safe to say Copa America 2028 will return to South America. The United States drew plenty of criticism for their hosting duties at Copa America 2024, especially when the final was delayed over an hour as thousands of fans entered Hard Rock Stadium without a ticket.
