Reports in Italy suggest that former Italy international Giorgio Chiellini is in line to take on more responsibilities for Juventus, and that he is being sounded out for future roles with the FIGC after Francesco Calvo’s impending departure for Aston Villa.

Calvo, who is currently Juventus’s managing director of commercial and institutional relations, resigned earlier this week. Though Juve have not yet officially commented on his departure, it is expected that he will take on the role as CEO of Aston Villa.

As Calvo is expected to leave at the end of the 2024-25 season, there is a chance that Chiellini, who retired in 2023, takes on a number of his duties after his departure.

Chiellini is currently acting as Juventus’s Head of Football Institutional Relations, and is a regular at Serie A and ECA meetings as a Bianconeri representative.

Once Calvo leaves, Chiellini is expected to become an even more visible ambassador of Juventus, but could also be handed an official, ‘operational’ role by Cristiano Giuntoli in the near future.

According to reports from Corriere dello Sport, via Ilbianconero, Chiellini could be given a role where he acts as a liaison between the team, the board, and the various different management areas of the club.

Thursday’s reports claim that Cheillini’s work within the Juventus management structure could lead to opportunities elsewhere, as he has even touted for roles within the FIGC, potentially even as a future successor to Gabriele Gravina as President.
