Liverpool have explained their decision to leave Harvey Elliott, Jarell Quansah and Conor Bradley out of their squad for this season's Champions League fixtures.
The Reds confirmed a 24-man squad on Wednesday and sparked a wave of confusion from a handful of fans on social media as key first-team players Elliott, Quansah and Bradley were all omitted.
However, while the trio do not feature on Liverpool's 'List A', they can still play for the club as they are eligible to feature on 'List B'.
'List B' is unlimited and can feature any player born after January 1, 2003, who has either had two uninterrupted years at the club or three consecutive years including a domestic loan after their 15th birthday.
As Elliott, Quansah and Bradley all meet that criteria, they can feature on 'List B' and do not need to take up a limited space on the primary list, which is restricted to 25 players.
Liverpool have been drawn against AC Milan, Bologna, RB Leipzig, Bayer Leverkusen, Real Madrid, Girona, Lille and PSV Eindhoven in the new league phase of the Champions League, kicking off the action in Milan on September 17.
