Wissam Ben Yedder to go on trial for sexual assault while intoxicated | OneFootball

According to Foot Mercato, Wissam Ben Yedder (34) is set to go on trial on the 15th of September after being charged for sexual assault whilst being intoxicated. The former Monaco striker is currently a free agent following the expiry of his contract with the principality club in June.

Foot Mercato reports that clubs struggled to see the former France international attacker as a viable option in the summer transfer window whilst the doubts around his availability continue to loom due to legal issues. Ben Yedder was previously tried for rape, sexual assault and attempted rape of two young women aged 18 and 19 in May 2023.

On this occasion, the former Sevilla striker will be tried for another complaint of sexual assault. Ben Yedder was taken into custody last weekend and is accused of attempting to sexually abuse a woman born in 2001 in his car multiple times.  The Frenchman is currently under legal curfew and has to report to a police station twice a week until he is tried on the 15th of October.
