Silence very much the golden word so far for Newcastle United, with pre-season info difficult to come by and announcements coming later than usual.

We now have confirmed a friendly at Hull in 20 days time (27 July), followed by two games in Japan, before the usual double header weekend at St James’ Park a week ahead of the season kicking off.

However, whilst most other Premier League clubs have announced playing squads returning to the training ground and so on, Newcastle United making nothing public about their arrangements for these next three weeks, ahead of the Hull match.

Arsenal in recent years have made a stay at Adidas’ headquarters in Herzogenaurach a regular part of their pre-season, the world-class facilities at the Bavarian town in Germany are among the best in the world. Other clubs from overseas also take advantage of their partnership with Adidas. Arsenal deciding this summer to give it a miss, with the Euros cited as the main reason.

No comment whatsoever from Newcastle United but amongst others, Sky Sports have reported that Eddie Howe and his squad will travel to the Adidas HQ for a week or so this month, with potentially one or more friendlies set to be played whilst they are there.

As I say though, nothing from the club about that nor the Newcastle United squad returning to the training ground, though surely this week will see that return happening for the majority of players.

As well as some under-21 players, my guesstimate is that the 20-man Newcastle United squad named below is likely to be how the travelling party looks, when it sets off for Germany sometime in the next couple of weeks.

With likely these 12 players missing from the travelling party for the following reasons…

Injured

Sven Botman, Jamaal Lascelles, Lewis Miley

Extra-time off due to international duty

Martin Dubravka, Kieran Trippier, Fabian Schar, Bruno Guimaraes, Miguel Almiron, Anthony Gordon

Not part of Eddie Howe’s plans

Isaac Hayden, Ryan Fraser, Jamal Lewis

My assumption is that those on international duty, will then join up with the Newcastle squad for the trip to Japan, possibly one or more of them involved as well against Hull.

Predicted Newcastle United squad to travel to Germany:

Goalkeepers:

Nick Pope, Odysseas Vlachodimos, John Ruddy, Mark Gillespie

Full-backs:

Lewis Hall, Tino Livramento, Matt Targett, Emil Krafth, Harrison Ashby

Central defenders:

Dan Burn, Lloyd Kelly, Alex Murphy

Midfielders:

Joelinton, Sandro Tonali, Sean Longstaff

Attacking midfielders / Wingers:

Harvey Barnes, Joe Willock, Jacob Murphy

Strikers:

Callum Wilson, Alexander Isak
