Head coach Julen Lopetegui is believed to have been looking for a new shot-stopper following the downturn in form of no.1 José Sa, who has made mistakes leading to goals in recent games.

Bentley has been at Bristol City since 2019 after arriving from Southend United and has made over 140 appearances for the Championship club.

Back-up goalkeeper Matija Sarkić is likely to join Stoke City on loan for the remainder of the campaign.
