Wolverhampton Wanderers have tabled a bid to sign Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, according to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein.

They want to sign the England international on an initial loan deal, which would include an option to buy at the end of the season.

They are willing to pay the majority of Ramsdale’s weekly wages as part of a potential deal in a bid to convince Arsenal, but it is unclear whether that will be enough to get him.

Wolves rejected two bids from the Gunners for goalie Dan Bentley, and it is unknown whether they will include him in the deal to land Ramsdale.

The 26-year-old made the PFA Team of the Year in 2022-23 but has fallen behind Spain international David Raya in the pecking order.

Ramsdale wants to leave for where he is guaranteed regular playing chances, but Arsenal prefer to sell him star than let him leave on loan. They recently rejected a similar approach from Ajax.

Southampton have also expressed an interest in Ramsdale, but talks have not progressed.

Arsenal are preparing for the potential departure of their second-choice goalie, with Espanyol’s Joan Garcia identified as a possible replacement.

The Gunners could still change their mind towards the end of the transfer window if no permanent bids come in for Ramsdale, and more clubs could enter into the race to sign him.
