FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers on Saturday brought a seventh straight win for Germany and a dramatic victory for Luxembourg.
Group D – Luxembourg 3-2 Latvia
There was late drama as Luxembourg retrieved a two-goal deficit before Latvia had Karlina Miksone sent off in stoppage-time, after which Sandra Voitane’s penalty for the visitors was saved by Lucie Schlime and Amy Thompson netted a 95th-minute winner.
Group H – Germany 3-0 Portugal
Germany made it seven straight wins after Lena Oberdorf broke the deadlock close to half time, Klara Buhl and Felicitas Rauch later adding one each against Portugal.
CONCACAF Championship Qualifiers
Manchester City’s Khadija Shaw notched a 12-minute treble as Jamaica won 9-0 in the Cayman Islands, Panama matched that result away to Aruba, Glasgow City’s Priscila Chinchilla was on target and Rachel Rodriguez got the other three goals as Costa Rica won in Curaçao.
Three double-figure away wins saw Mexico net 11 in Anguilla, Trinidad & Tobago go two better against Turks & Caicos Islands, while Haiti hammered British Virgin Islands 21-0.
Friendly Internationals
Brighton’s Lee Geum-min completed the scoring as South Korea beat Vietnam 3-0, Paraguay’s Liss Chamorro got the only goal of the game in Ecuador, Sophia Smith hit a hat-trick as the USA ran out 9-1 winners over Uzbekistan.
Venezuela’s Deyna Castellanos bagged a brace, Colombia’s Leicy Santos did likewise in a 2-2 tie, with the former having Yenifer Gimenez sent off late on.
