The Women's League Cup group stage will reach its conclusion on Wednesday evening, with a Merseyside derby clash to kick things off.

Here's what happened.

Enderby brace for Liverpool sees off Everton

Liverpool faced a young Everton side in a Merseyside derby clash for a place in the  quarter-final, and strolled to a 4-0 win at their St. Helen's stadium.

Liverpool dominated the ball in the early stages of this clash, and they took a deserved lead just before the half hour mark through a Jenna Clark header.

And that lead was doubled when Mia enderby won the ball back and drilled it low past Everton goalkeeper Emily Ramsey.

The tie was complete when Cornelia Kapocs finished off a superb team move, and just after Fuka Nagano had almost opened her account for Liverpool, Enderby bagged her second of the evening in the 90th minute.

That result means that Liverpool have made it through to the quarter-final of the competition, while Everton are eliminated.

Man Utd cruise to win after Newcastle fightbacks

Scorers: Greenwood 9' (OG), Watson 24' Williams 68', George 83', Terland 88'; Cooper 13', Andrews 47',

Manchester United had to overcome two Newcastle equalisers before they eventually ran out 5-2 winners in this home clash.

Championship side Newcastle got off to an unfortunate start when Hannah Greenwood turned the ball into her own net from a corner.

The Magpies soon hit back when Deanna Cooper picked up the ball up in the Manchester United half, went on a run and fired a shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the area.

After 24 minutes, the home side had regained the lead when 18-year-old Emma Watson netted her first goal for the club.

Newcastle were not giving up without a fight though, and once again drew level when Amy Andrews cut onto her left foot and curled her shot into the back of the net from just inside the penalty area.

Marc Skinner's side were forced to dig deep, and put themselves back ahead when Rachel Williams was in the right place to finish a shot from close range that had been initially cleared off the line.

That's when they were able to pull clear, adding a fourth courtesy of a Gabi Geroge header, and Elizabeth Terland added a fifth with just two minutes to go.

Second half show allows West Ham to see off Saints

West Ham registered a 3-0 home win over Southampton.

It took West Ham an hour to find the breakthrough against the Championship Saints, as Shelina Zadorsky netted her first for the club, tapping some a rebound from a shot that was initially well saved.

Their second came from a Paige Peake own goal that had deflected off an initial Riko Ueki header.

The victory was sealed thanks to a Dagný Brynjarsdóttir finish from close range in stoppage time.

Tottenham take straightforward win over Palace

Scorers: Vinberg 50', Dennis

Tottenham delivered a routine 2-0 win over Crystal Palace.

Spurs took the lead not long after the break when Martha Thomas played the ball across the box for Matilda Vinberg, with the Sweden international slotting home the finish.

And the second was added by Araya Dennis as she turned her defender inside out before picking out the top right-hand corner.

That result means Spurs have now reached the quarter-final stage of the competition.

Leicester survive early scare before battering Birmingham

Scorers: Baker 13'; Herron 34' (OG) Momiki 37' (PEN), Bott 39', Sherwood 42', Cain 67'

Leicester City eased their WSL woes with a 5-1 win over Birmingham in the cup.

The Championship side took the lead when Ava Baker intercepted possession just outside the area and fired an effort into the bottom corner.

An own goal from Neve Herron put the Foxes back on level terms, and minutes later the home side were awarded a penalty, which was tucked away by Yūka Momiki.

The floodgates then opened as Catherine Bott arrived late at the back post and drilled her shot into the back of the net, and before half-time Leicester had another when Dianne Rose picked out 17-year-old Simone Sherwood, who kept a cool head and slotted home.

Hannah Cain gave Leicester their fifth, as she swept home her finish from another Rose assist.

Daly braces sees managerless Villa beat Charlton

Scorers: Newsham 10'; Daly 25', Salmon 32', 47'

Rachel Daly and Ebony Salmon both fired in a brace as Aston Villa overcame Charlton Athletic by a 4-1 scoreline, but it wasn't enough for the WSL side to go through.

Villa had sacked manager Robert de Pauw earlier in the day, but managed to deliver the win regardless.

Charlotte Newsham netted her first goal for Charlton, as she finished from a Karin Muya cross.

Villa hit back when Rachel Daly nodded in from a Noelle Maritz cross, and they had their second when Ebony Salmon delivered a top-class finish into the top right-hand corner.

Salmon struck again as she jinked her way through the box and fired in the third, before Daly also hit a brace with a shot she dug out from under her feet.

The quarter-finals are up next for those who make it through, with the ties to be played on 22nd & 23rd January.
