After Arsenal suffered defeat at the hands of Chelsea on Saturday, the other ten WSL sides are in action today.

Here’s what happened.

Bunny Shaw helps Man City to come back and beat Liverpool

An excellent first half performance from Liverpool was not enough to stop Manchester City from coming back to earn a 2-1 win.

Canada international Olivia Smith gave Liverpool the lead at Anfield when she latched onto a flick on from a goal kick and struck the ball from outside the area into the back of the net.

After their midweek exploits against Barcelona, Man City were not at their best, but some great work down the left from Lauren Hemp saw the England international supply a cross for Bunny Shaw, who jumped the highest to put her side back on level terms.

From that point on, there was a constant assault on the Liverpool goal from Man City and it was Shaw again that showed great strength to hold off her marker while firing in the winner in added time.

Aston Villa labour to Leicester draw

Leicester ground out a goalless draw with Aston Villa as both sides remain without a win this season.

An effort from range for Jordan Nobbs and a shot well saved from Adriana Leon was the closest Aston Villa got to breaking the deadlock against a determined Leicester City defence.

Brighton keep pace at the top with win over Crystal Palace

Brighton kept pace with Manchester United and Chelsea at the top of the WSL table with a 1-0 win over newly-promoted Crystal Palace.

Dario Vidošić’s side took the lead when Crystal Palace goalkeeper Shae Yanez failed to claim a long, angled ball into the box.

Bruna Vilamala was the first player to react when it hit the ground, as she stabbed home the finish.

Freak own goal sees Everton come back to take West Ham point

Everton took a point from West Ham after a fluky own goal settled a 1-1 draw between the pair.

West Ham opened the scoring when Shelina Zadorsky intercepted a stray pass in her own half and began a neat passing move that culminated in a slick turn and pass inside the box from Viviane Asseyi.

That Asseyi pass supplied Anouk Denton, who smashed her finish into the roof of the net.

Everton got their equaliser when goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan showed quick thinking as she rolled the ball out quickly after a West Ham corner.

The Blues strode forward on the break and when Melissa Lawley put a ball into the box, it took a freak deflection off Camila Saéz and went in.

Terland shines as Man Utd see off Tottenham

Scorers: Terland 44′, 45+4′, Le Tissier 59′ (PEN)

Manchester United are still yet to concede a goal in the WSL, as they served up a 3-0 win over Tottenham.

Spurs controlled the bulk of the play in the early stages, with Manchester United content to hit the away side on the counter-attack.

Grace Clinton went closest from one of those breaks, her left-footed shot forcing an excellent save from Becky Spencer.

Just before the half-time whistle blew, Celin Bizet found herself in plenty of space down the right-hand side and put a dangerous ball into the box, allowing Elisabeth Terland to net her first for Man Utd with a superb volley that hit the underside of the crossbar and went in. .

And in added time Man Utd doubled their lead with almost a carbon copy of their first when a through ball from Clinton fed Bizet on the right, and her cross to the far post was headed home by Terland as she completed her brace.

Things went from bad to worse for Spurs when Ashleigh Neville blocked an Ella Toone cross with her hand and the home side were awarded a penalty.

It looked like Toone might take it, but instead skipper Maya Le Tissier stepped up and side footed it into the bottom right-hand corner with ease.

Next weekend sees under-fire Arsenal travel to West Ham, Chelsea host Tottenham, and Manchester City at home to Aston Villa.
