The Toon teenagers headed into their final Group B fixture following a 3-1 comeback win against Lonestar SC, courtesy of goals from Matthew Taylor, Matheos Ferreira and Jude Cogdon, and required a victory against the Mexican outfit in order to secure their place in the semi-final stages.
However, the young Magpies fell behind shortly after the half-hour mark at the Toyota Soccer Center before conceding four times in the final 26 minutes of the contest in Texas, resulting in a third placed finish in their respective group which contained defending champions São Paulo.
Chris Moore and James Marwood's side will return to Newcastle next week before concluding their 2024/25 Under-18 Premier League North campaign, facing an away clash against rivals Sunderland on Saturday, 26th April (kick-off 11am BST) before carrying out respective home fixtures, both held at the Magpies' Little Benton Academy, against Leeds United and Manchester City on Wednesday, 30th April (kick-off 12pm BST) and Saturday, 3rd May (kick-off 11.30am BST).
