Third U19 Youth League matchday sees us face Dinamo Zagreb

A 3-2 opening win at Sparta Prague and a 5-1 thumping of Stade Brest at the Red Bull Football Academy against Stade Brest! Our best-ever start to a UEFA Youth League group or league phase is one we want to continue on Wednesday 23 October at 15:30 CEST.

We followed the start to our Youth League campaign with a camera crew. Do you want to dive in to explore the first (of hopefully many) successes? Episode one of this year's Class of 2025 Inside Youth League series is available online now!

Matchday 3 sees us face the U19 side of Dinamo Zagreb. Banovic's boys responded to a 1-2 loss at Bayern Munich on the first matchday with a 1-0 win over AS Monaco on the second. While the majority of the squad play their football at youth level - naturally enough - taking a draw in a Zagreb derby against NK Kustosija at the weekend – captain and playmaker Branko Pavic is a standout talent. The 17-year-old made his debut last week for Croatia under-21s and has already gained playing time with the first team of the Croatian champions.

A win on Wednesday would take our boys even closer to the knockout stage, which 22 of the 36 UEFA Youth League teams will appear in. The match will be played at the Red Bull Football Academy.

Views

Our club played against Dinamo two years ago, and it's similar this time around - we are facing a team with good individual players. They have no problem defending deep for a long time, as they are very disciplined and compact. Their great strength is in their attacking transitions, which they seem very mature in doing despite their age. They are very good opponents and a super challenge! We want to continue on our path, take our third win in a row and take another really good step in this league stage.
