FLW look at two players who could follow Ilias Chair out of QPR in 2025.

Queens Park Rangers have found form under Marti Cifuentes with a string of good results pushing them away from the foot of the Championship table.

Having started the season poorly, since November they have been one of the division's form sides, and it doesn't seem like ending anytime soon.

Despite this, there are still some off-field challenges to deal with, and one concern has to be the potential 2025 departure of Ilias Chair.

The 27-year-old has been the shining light in several poor QPR teams since joining in 2017 and has been back to his best in recent weeks after a series of injuries kept him out.

Unfortunately, the Moroccan's time at Loftus Road could be coming to an end this summer with his contract expiring in June. While they do have the option to extend his deal for another year, the Hoops would likely honour his desire to move on if Chair chooses to pursue new opportunities.

In the summer, he was linked with a move to Leeds United, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see the Whites return again with Brenden Aaronson not having the same creative influence as the Moroccan.

Prior to that, last January, Trabzonspor submitted a £4.25 million, which was firmly rejected by the Hoops board.

However, if a similar offer were to arrive this time around, it seems likely that they would seriously consider accepting, given the circumstances a year on.

Elijah Dixon-Bonner

Outside of Chair, another player who should depart Loftus Road either in January or the summer is Elijah Dixon-Bonner.

The 24-year-old signed for the R's from Liverpool in 2022 and has barely featured under Marti Cifuentes. This season he has accumulated just nine minutes of Championship football across three appearances and surely seems set for an exit.

Having signed a new deal last summer, the situation is puzzling, but Dixon-Bonner will undoubtedly be seeking a fresh start. A move to a new club in the winter window would likely be the best solution for all parties and stepping down to League One could provide Dixon-Bonner with the consistent game time he needs to reignite his career.

Despite accumulating minimal minutes of football, he has been on the bench numerous times, suggesting Cifuentes does have some faith remaining in the midfielder.

However, if the Hoops can secure some new additions in January, he could be forced to leave the club this month.

Jack Colback

Jack Colback is an extremely experienced midfielder, but whether he is still up to the level required for QPR remains unclear.

A knee injury early in the season sidelined the 35-year-old, limiting him to just six league appearances so far, though he has recently made his return to action.

With Cifuentes regularly pairing Sam Field and Jonathan Varane in midfield together, it is difficult to see Colback staking a claim for himself in the starting XI.

As his contract expires in June, a summer departure from Loftus Road appears likely. However, much like Ilias Chair, Colback’s deal includes an option for an additional year, giving the R's hierarchy the flexibility to extend his stay should they see fit.

Hitting 36 later this year, there aren't any major benefits of keeping him around. This should see them move their number four on in either January or the summer as they bid to regenerate their team by signing younger players.
