Liverpool are open to 'financial maneuvering'

According to Caught Offside, there is emerging interest in the player from Wolves, Aston Villa and Bournemouth who are the 'primary contenders' alongside Crystal Palace, Newcastle United and Brighton who are also rumoured to be monitoring the situation - although to different extents.

The asking price is a hefty £40-50m, which is a little steep for a player who has been on the pitch for just 766 minutes this season across all competitions. Arne Slot has not be willing to play him.

Yet his talent has not wavered and it is not beyond the realms of possibility that the price could drop.

The report claims: "The club's openness to financial manoeuvring, coupled with Elliott's relatively limited playing time under the manager Arne Slot, has cast doubt over his long-term role at Anfield."

As such, it seems as though the young midfielder could be used as a pawn in Liverpool's transfer plans. With so many clubs also interested in taking him off of Liverpool's hands, it's a move that is now undoubtedly edging closer - especially as Elliott does not appear to have much of a long-term future at the club.

If Elliott were to leave, it would be a really difficult transfer for the fans to understand.

A fee as high as £40-50m would be an incredible of business, but his dedication to the club has never wavered, unlike others, and so moving someone on who doesn't want to leave would seem wrong.

Especially given what he has to offer. He's capable of playing a few different roles in the team, he's young and tenacious, and the potential he still has is clear for all to see.

But when faced with the reality that Liverpool might not have him in their plans, he would likely take the decision on the chin, respect the club's choice, and work tirelessly to prove himself elsewhere.

That's the kind of person he is - mature beyond his years. How the club decides to proceed with him is yet to be seen, although reports of 'financial manoeuvring' don't sound positive for his future.
