Activists are planting trees where the Roma stadium is supposed to be built, writes today’s edition of La Repubblica.

Several environmental associations, including Schierarsi, founded by former Five Star member Alessandro Di Battista, have placed holm oaks, ash trees, elms, hackberries in the area where the Municipality would like to authorize the construction of Roma’s new stadium.

The arboreal protest was also claimed by Anonima Forestazioni, which is an expert in trees. In this sense, the association, after receiving a request for help from the committees against the Roma stadium, has decided to intervene together with several other organizations such as Fridays for Future Roma, Sì parco No stadio, Arci Pietralata and other associations: Ecoresistenze, Potere al popolo, Donne de borgata.

Schierarsi, on the other hand, was founded in 2023 by Di Battista with the aim of bringing together “active citizenship”, as stated on the association’s website.

Former mayor Virginia Raggi also sympathized and got involved in the signature collections, together with other exponents of the past M5s season in the capital, such as Monica Montella.
