Adam Idah scored a clinical brace as Celtic moved clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership. The Irishman has been subject of some criticism from sections of the support, who believe that the big centre forward should be offering more to justify his £9m fee.

Earlier today, The Celtic Star’s Ordinary Bhoy opined that the 23-year-old should be offering more to repay the club’s outlay. In perfect response, Idah hit a brace during an excellent second half at Tynecastle.

Kyogo fired Celtic into the lead after a fortuitous break of the ball. Callum McGregor attempted to block a clearance and managed to find the Japanese striker.

After a remarkable solo effort from Nicolas Kühn made it 2-0, the Celtic boss chased more goals and brought Idah on for Kyogo. In less than three minutes, the Irishman had found the net. Celtic’s midfield knocked the ball round before it found itself at the feet of Idah. The forward made no mistake as he beat Gordon from close range.

After Hearts pulled one back, Celtic were handed the chance to restore their three goal advantage. Idah was selfless and tried to play James Forrest in only for the winger to be brought down. Celtic’s No.9 stepped up and dispatched the penalty with perfect precision. It was a brilliant finish, even if Gordon doesn’t have the best record from the spot.

Idah is far from the finished article as a player but his ability to come up with big goals at this stage in his career is vital. The goals that he scored, especially away from home last season, were a huge part in bringing the Premiership and Scottish Cup to Paradise.

Brendan spoke about the player bringing pace and power to Celtic to help for the club’s UCL aspirations. The build and skill set of Idah differs from Kyogo and this brings another dimension to Celtic’s tactics.
