Millwall boss Alex Neil has revealed that the Lions could make some new signings ahead of transfer deadline day
Millwall boss Alex Neil has issued a hint that the Lions could be making more additions in the transfer market, ahead of Monday's deadline.
So far this window, the Lions have signed defender Tristan Crama and forward Aaron Connolly from Brentford and Sunderland respectively, while talented youngster Romain Esse left the Den in favour of making a £14.5m move to Premier League Crystal Palace.
Millwall's win at Portsmouth marked the club's second victory in the Championship since Neil took the managerial reins, after they also defeated Luton Town last Saturday.
The former Preston North End boss also oversaw the Lions' 3-0 win over Dagenham & Redbrige in the third round of the FA Cup, which handed his new side a fourth round tie at Leeds United.
Following the Lions' victory over Pompey on Tuesday night, the 43-year-old told BBC Radio London: "Everybody knows we're light in certain areas at the moment.
"We will be getting players back, obviously the window's going to come to an end, so we'll see what happens between now and the end of the window.
"The squad that's available at the moment and what they've churned out has been absolutely sensational.
"I've got praise for every player."
The Lions boss also told Southwark News at Fratton Park: "The window shuts on Monday.
"We’re hopeful.
"We’re working on a lot of things, so as always, there’s a lot of moving parts in the window, and we’re doing our best to get a few across the line.
"So let’s see what the next few days bring."
Tuesday night's victory over Pompey marked consecutive wins in the Championship for the Lions for the first time since November, when they defeated automatic promotion chasers Burnley and Leeds in back-to-back encounters, under the stewardship of former boss Neil Harris.
The recent triumphs over both Luton and Pompey are promising signs that the club may have made the correct choice in selecting Neil as Harris' successor, ahead of Saturday's clash with Queens Park Rangers, who sit just one point and one place above the Den outfit in the Championship table.
But in order to continue the strong form he has established at his new club, the Scot may require the additions of his own players, as opposed to those signed by former managers such as Harris.
The Den faithful, therefore, will be pleased by Neil's hint that the club could be acquiring the services of some more new signings before the transfer window slams shut on Monday.
